My work at the RCA

My current work is focused on developing more sustainable and environmentally friendly methods of creating printed fabric. I explore and examine the printing and dying methods, both current and throughout history, that have been used to colour fabric. Delving deep into the plant life of the north west of England, I have experimented with the colours I can achieve from both our native and non native species. My work is designed to help fix the broken bond between mankind and the natural world. I use waste fabric, off cuts that are no longer needed, that would have typically gone to landfill. These pieces are dyed and printed using a wide variety of techniques in experimenting with and than patch worked together to create larger textile pieces that can be used within the interior textile industry.
